Took out my copy of E-Myth revisited for a general pick-me-up of get the heck outta the cubical inspiration.

Thought I would share a nugget of knowledge. To paraphrase: A successful entrepreneur views the business as the product. Not the product as the business.

Immigration Reform Part 2

Watched the second part of the news bit, which cleared up some points.

First, the person in the report self-deported so that he would have a viable chance of actually getting imported(?), citizenship the right way.

Then the truth comes out...Our legal system is jacked up and he is looking at up to a year to get processed. There in lies the real problem in my humble opinion. I'm against people breaking the law...but you can't drag people along like this for that long.

So if any of you watch the news you have no doubt heard about the new law proposed in Arizona and the Federal lawsuit pending to place an injuction against them.

I'm going to try to keep my political opinions stymed, but as I was watch the liberal news media (aka "the news") this morning interviewing this kid, who came over as a 12 year old with his parent illegally. Graduated top honors in High School, attended Arizona State University with a Mechanical Engineering degree and has now recently gone back to Mexico to avoid being processed by the new law.

That's the background... The odd part..the news guy is talking about how this is a talented and obviously smart kid that the US should want to keep to which I had several knee jerk reactions.

First, how the hell does someone get that far in our education system without noticing? I kinda like the idea...get an college education...get a green card.

Second, how does a smart kid like this, with a professional degree, not attempt to get his green card. Maybe he has tried...

Third, while I know in the short-term it sucks, family seperated, etc.. Isn't this a good thing? A US educated, talented engineer returns to Mexico to make it a better place? Lot's of other countries send there students for US education and many go back. Why is this percieved as a bad thing?

Two Followers man that is depressing.

Not that I am writing all that much either. Sorry about that.

I had the luxury of attending breastfeeding classes over the past month. Let me be the voice of reason to any other male saying don't GO!! (unless of course you want to keep your marriage intact.)

Needless, to say it was a painful 3 hour lesson. Half of which was spent practicing holding a stuffed doll to my non-existent boobs. If I ever do opt for that sex change, now I know!

This industry should model something after defensive driving courses. Have the material presented by some comedian, while dad-to-be are sipping brew, and mom-to-be can drink..milk? Anyways, this whole subject would be better presented in a comedic fashion. Although the wife will say I'm just juvenile it could be some pretty funny material.

New addition

We have a new birthday in the family today or tomorrow...depends on how hard Jackie pushes ;)

Pond Project

So the pond is about 98% complete at this point. I recently finished the upper "waterfall" basin and put the aluminum trim work up.


Everything works well. I connected the plumbing, and after having a few inital leaks everything seems to be patched up and working fine. I like my new filter with UV light, it does make a noticable difference in the clarity of the water.

We have planted some herbs in the lower level including, jalapenos, dill, a cilantro substitute (better in our climate, some arugula, and a spinach substitute.

The fish did like there new home for awhile. It appears that when we bought more of the newbies they brought with them a case of ick. So to date, we have lost 4 fish, including our two eldest, which we are sad about, because they had made it all the way through the construction phase. We have chemicals in the water now to combat that, but I'm not really sure how many more fish we might lose.
